The Importance of Professional Headshots

From the many conversations I’ve had with fellow business owners, it seems certain that not many people like to get in front of the camera to have professional photos taken. Perhaps it’s because you think you might feel or look awkward, or maybe you don’t think it’s necessary and you’d rather focus your customer’s attention on your products or services? But investing in professional headshots is just as important as investing in the design of your logo - it’s one of many parts that make up your brand identity and the benefits are endless….

Headshots show the face behind the business

Most people want to know who they are dealing with when they engage your business. I know for me, a photo helps me connect with the business and I feel like I’m talking to an actual person, not just an automated system. I know I’m more likely to choose one business over another if I can connect with them on a human level.

Headshots develop trust

When customers can take a peek behind the scenes and see the face behind the business, they tend to trust you more, and be more inclined to purchase and stay loyal. It all comes down to the ‘know-like-trust’ factor!

Headshots set you apart

With so many of the same products and services in the market, you need something to set you apart. There may be a handful of businesses doing similar things as you, but there is only one YOU. The right people will connect with you and your why if they can see you, hear your story and see why you are different.

Headshots elevate perception

Perception is how others see you and your business. Your entire brand and brand identity will play a big part in how others perceive you. A professional headshot and library of personal brand photography will elevate how others perceive your business, compared to a poor quality, badly-lit selfie.

Quality headshots give high value

Along with an elevated perception comes a high value. If others perceive you and your business to be professional, high quality, and trusted, then they will be willing to pay more for your products or services.

Headshots show your best self

Not only does a professional photographer know how to use light and composition to make you look amazing, but they are also able to put you at ease and have fun so that your best self shines through the image. They’ll guide you on outfit choices, hair, makeup, and flattering poses so that you feel comfortable, empowered, and excited to share yourself with the world!

I had my own headshots done recently for all the reasons I’ve mentioned above, and more! I use them on my website, my social media platforms, and in my email marketing.
