It's always great to have your makeup and hair done for any photo session. Whether you do it yourself or go to a salon that's entirely up to you, but it helps to create a professional image and also makes you feel fantastic. Even if you're like me and don't generally wear a lot of makeup, it still looks good on camera to have a natural makeup look applied. Go a little heavier than you normally would, just so that it shows up on camera.

Even if you’re just starting out in business, it’s great to start with just a couple headshots. With all the startup costs business owners incur, a full brand session may not be in the budget just yet, but a simple headshot can be quite affordable.

A professional photo helps people to see you as a professional and trusted service provider, and it’s also a great boost to your confidence!

If you look physically different that your last lot of photos, it’s helpful for your audience to see the ‘real’ you. If you met someone at a networking event, would they recognise you? Do your brand photos align with the selfies you share in your stories? Visual consistency helps potential customers to trust you.

AI photos look amazing, but it’s not you. The whole point of creating brand photos is to create human connection and establish trust. A fake avatar is still fake, no matter how good it looks.

I always encourage my clients to be themselves and dress how they would normally show up to meet with a client. If you have corporate clients and a suit and jacket is preferred in your industry, then create brand photos in a suit. However, if you’re coach helping women gain confidence, then a more casual attire will help put your audience at ease and feel safe.
