Done-with-you Website Setup & Training

for eva @ Joyful sounds

Background

Eva is a local Hawkesbury music teacher and had been running her business solely on social media. She was getting more and more frustrated trying to communicate with enquiries over DMs. It was difficult to keep track of them and follow up, and it took an extensive amount of time to repeat her lesson information with every message.

Eva wanted (and needed) a central hub for all her information that she could point people to, and one line of communication for inbound leads. A website with a contact form would give her this, as well as help people find her in local online searches.

However, Eva didn’t have a technical background and wasn’t sure how to get a website off the ground.

“It was such a headache even thinking about where to start. Especially with a new website set up that I knew nothing about and didn’t really have the brain power or time to sit down and learn by myself.” - Eva, Joyful Sounds

My Process

I offered Eva by ‘3 Week Website’ package, and it was a perfect fit!

My done-with-you hybrid website service offers the best of both worlds - someone experienced in design and communication to build the site, plus 1:1 training providing the tools to take ownership of making continual updates to the site.

After our initial consultation learning more about Eva’s business goals and needs, I set up and customised the initial pages of her Squarespace website.

Then, we met up again so I could show Eva her new site and give her the basic tour of how it all works. Working together, Eva was able to add and edit text and photo content to her site and learn how to add new pages.

I checked back in with Eva in the third and final week to see the progress she’d made, helped her with any issues that arose, and then got her site published and ready to share with the world.

(Even though Eva and I met in person because we’re both local to the Hawkesbury, this is also possible online.)

As an extra bonus, I had the pleasure of creating Eva’s brand photos a couple of years ago, so it was a real joy to also use them in her new website!

Results

Eva now has a website that suits her unique voice and brand. It’s an asset that is working for her in the background as it comes up for people searching for a local music teacher. And she’s already getting enquiries coming through the contact form!

Now she can point all her social media enquiries to her website, where they’ll have all the information they need, along with the steps on how to get in touch and book a call.

Eva also has future plans of adding a signup to a mailing list so she can keep in touch with people and let them know of future lesson availabilities.

Hear from Eva….

“As a sole trader I like being in charge of my own business, so understanding HOW things work so I can be independent in the future was what I needed. The consultations showed me that my business and ‘vibe’ were understood so I didn’t have to be concerned with the website not matching.

I was able to communicate the things I needed but didn’t have to skills to execute. And partnering with someone who could fill in the gaps and expand on it, was everything I needed.

If I was to work on this by myself, it would have taken forever and wouldn’t have been as nice or as accessible. I probably would have cried in frustration! Working on it together meant that if I didn’t understand something, or wanted to change anything (not that I did) it was easy and there wasn’t a back and forth over days and weeks to fix things.

The loom videos were awesome too! I like to know WHY things are done. So being able to hear why you made certain design choices helped me understand more about how to design things in the future for my socials and other pages I might add.

There’s nothing worse than people and businesses gatekeeping aspects to how your own business works. I hate that so much, because it can effect income and it can effect workflow. So having my website designed and then being taught how to edit it as the business grows, is exactly what I like and exactly how my brain works.

In running your own business there are things you are good at, and things that don’t come as easily. Being able to ‘pass on’ the harder stuff to someone else that is better at those sorts of things was a big weight off my shoulders.

Now I have confidence that my business can keep growing and this whole process has helped shaped my own ideas and ‘mission’ for my work. It was a piece that was missing, that I have now. I love that things feel like they are moving and upgrading into whatever is next for Joyful Sounds! It’s helped me to see more value in my business and that’s it’s not just a hobby I got lucky in. I feel incredibly blessed that the website is no longer a point of frustration but rather something that now works for me, and can expand as the business expands.”
